The book analyzes the history of the four industrial revolutions and their relationship with employment, as well as their links with the thought of economists such as Marx, Keynes and Schumpeter. Next, it immerses us in the current universe of the displacement of wealth towards access and control over data and information flows, in close collusion with the digitization of life and deregulation championed by neoliberalism. The world of the so-called post-truth, the proliferation of hoaxes that create states of opinion or interfere in (formally) democratic processes, the deepening of the exclusion gap on a global scale, the attempts from countries like India or Brazil to address the opportunities created by technology to promote the transfer of income to the most vulnerable social sectors, or the legal battle (in the United States, Europe or Australia) against the new technological monopolies, together with the background of the fight for global hegemony of the USA with China, the other great technological engine in the fray, are the other topics that the book addresses to give us a broad perspective of the labyrinth in which we are immersed.
