For some time now, practically since the middle of the 19th century, with greater or lesser intensity depending on the historical moment, we have witnessed a progressive displacement of population from rural to urban areas. And, for the first ones, the population reduction has entailed socioeconomic effects that are complex to reverse. The “Ruralitats” collection, with the support of Diputació de Lleida, focuses on analysing the changes that rural areas have undergone and the effects that these have had at a demographic, economic, environmental, educational level…, as well as infrastructure, equipment and services on the resident population. From a multidisciplinary perspective, it aims to promote and collaborate with the territorial balance and social cohesion of Catalonia and, especially, Lleida.
