This reproduction belongs to the popularly known as “Medicine Stone” which is part of the set of archaeological remains of the General Study, found in the Cavalry Quarter of the Plain of Lleida. It seems that it has its origin in the former Faculty of Medicine of the General Study.
Sculped, probably during the 17th century, it dominated the facade of the old Faculty of Medicine. The Lleida City Council transferred it to the University of Lleida.
This reproduction is the work of the sculptor from Lleida Gaspar Parra. It is made of beige clay, fired at high temperature, on a cherry-wood pedestal, whose dimensions are 2.25 cm high, 27.25 cm wide and 7.25 cm deep. The total height of the piece is 11.50 cm and the weight is 1.600 kg.
