The collection of erotic narrative “La sonrisa vertical” (Barcelona: Tusquets Editores) was born in 1977, by Beatriz de Moura and Luis García Berlanga, with a double purpose: to rescue a literary genre that had been censored by Francoist laws and support the narrative of young authors. From the launch of “La sonrisa vertical” Award (1979-2004), Spanish and Hispanic-American writers were included in the catalog, some totally unknown, who would later achieve considerable prestige, such as Almudena Grandes and Eduardo Mendicutti. This volume is divided into three chapters to offer an analysis about Tusquets Editores. The first will draw up a corporate and literary biography. The second chapter begins with a biographical note of the filmmaker Luis García Berlanga and offers a journey through the one hundred and fifty-three titles in the collection. The last one provides an analysis of the fifty-five volumes written in Spanish and Catalan (fictions published between 1977 and 2014) that confirm the evolution of the Hispanic erotic imaginary during the last decades.
