This study provides information on Santo Domingo’s pirates and their role in the island between 1718 and 1779. Their incursions were much more than just a series of minor and isolated incidents. The Dominican pirates were an organized group that achieved remarkable profits. In fact, their attacks had a considerable impact in the island’s economy during the aforementioned period.
