This text is a Catalan translation by Josep Antoni Clua i Serna, professor of Greek Philology at the University of Lleida, of the Aristophanes’ play The Wasps. The book also includes the original Greek text. This is one of the most successful comedies of this author and also one of his most modern works. In fact, Aristophanes’ play revolves around several contemporary themes: passion for politics and eagerness to judge others cruelly, in a biased way, with demagogy and without hesitation. It contrasts two ways of understanding the world: on the one hand, the money and adulation personified by the judge Philocleon; on the other hand, the good judgement and social behavior of Bdelycleon. This realistic, funny and well-structured comedy talks about a situation determined by the inversion of values.
