The aim of this book is to study in depth the northwest ribats (Sant Carles de la Ràpita, Santa Margarida i els Monjos, la Riba and Vallfogona de Balaguer) to understand their origins, evolution, role in society and in the territory, and the influence of Al-Andalus politic power and new Muslim spiritual trends on ribats.
