Gypsies have experienced important cultural, identity and socioeconomic changes, which are lived and interpreted from different points of view. The research on which this book is based has consisted, from a qualitative perspective (40 in-depth interviews), in knowing, from the same people involved and people with whom they usually interact, how they portray the past, present and future of the Roma living in the regions of Lleida.
The conclusions point to the need for some of the Roma to improve: the job and work opportunities, housing and their living conditions, as well as access to training that makes them more competitive in the labour market.
The actions to respond to these needs should be designed taking into account not chronifying the dependence of the people who need them, while incorporating those involved in decision-making.
