Most history of art studies analyse artistic works, but overshadow the individuals who ordered them, the clients, the promoters and the artisan artist that created them. While it is simple to obtain information about the piece’s promoters, creators remain unknown because they were not taken into account and belonged to the field of liberal arts. As a consequence, it is relevant to look for varied and distinctive sources of information that focus on artisans, their lives, their social status, how they organized themselves… This is the main subject of this book.
