This book is a compendium for students and professionals who deal with clinical biomechanics and its pathologies. It is structured in four parts: the first part has to do with physical concepts, the second one with tissue biomechanics and the third one with regional biomechanics. It ends with an appendix that deals with various topics.
The physics part has to do with the physical concepts of kinematics, statics, work and elasticity. All these physical concepts have their biomechanical application in the part of the tissues and in the part of regional biomechanics.
The tissue biomechanics part deals with the applications that have been explained in the physics part, but now they are applied to the bone tissue, the articular cartilage, the capsule, the muscle, the tendon, the ligament and the peripheral nerve. It also explains the physical properties of these tissues and the way in which the forces influence them.
The part of regional clinical biomechanics studies the anatomy, physiological characteristics, movements and the main overuse injuries of most parts of the locomotor system.
The appendix deals with the characteristics of sports shoes, the biomechanics of human gait, and a practice in anthropometry and body composition.
