This research on the inter-war period intends to compare Primo de Rivera’s authoritarian administration with the democratic Republican government in order to provide information about an unexplored period in local terms. The main hypothesis states that the different political systems Borges Blanques went through had a direct influence on its rural economy, society and culture. The structure of the text is divided into two parts. The first one focuses on political history and studies the city hall activity during Primo de Rivera’s dictatorship. The second part focuses on the Second Republic and includes a political introduction and several general conclusions. The author supports an approach that not only analyzes the Second Republic and Primo de Rivera’s dictatorship, but also the Civil War and Francoism. It also includes information on the creation of parties, their traditions and the people who were responsible for the main political trends of this local area.
