Canvi econòmic i social en el pas de l’antic règim a l’estat liberal: Lleida en la primera meitat del segle XIX

This book analyzes the socioeconomic situation of an agricultural provincial capital during the transition from the old regime to liberalism. The study focuses on the first half of the 19^th century and compares this case with others from different areas of Spain in order to provide a more detailed overview of the country’s situation at that time. The changes that resulted from this transition shaped an essential social structure for the integration of capitalism in professional relationships and the economy. Even though several relevant economic and social sectors were still asleep, this was Lleida’s first step towards the city’s modernization.
