Learning about painter Antonio Daura Atarés (Osca, 1930 – Conca 1998) and his career implies diving in the biography of one of the most relevant Spanish avant-garde painters of the national and international scene during the second half of the 20th century. This study lays its foundations on solid documentation and includes the testimony of friends, relatives, gallery owners, publishers and fellow professionals that help create the human portrait of this extraordinary artist. In fact, José Ortega i Gasset once said: “A painter’s life is the grammar and dictionary that helps us understand his works”. The text is structured chronologically in order to highlight experience as a valuable factor in the development of an artist’s career. This volume is the result of the author’s interest to understand Antoni de Saura’s paintings.
