Maials durant la Guerra Civil 1936-1938. La vida en un poble de la rereguarda

This work is divided into two parts. The first provides an overview of how the events and conflicts of the Spanish Civil War took place in Maials, a village with a dry-land agrarian economy. It analyzes aspects ranging from revolutionary repression, land redistribution, collectivist experiences, volunteer soldiers and conscripts, the arrival of refugees—and its impact on the local population—and the management of subsistence in a war economy, until the arrival of the armed conflict at the village’s gate and the subsequent occupation by the Nationalist army.
The second part of the book analyzes the political repression of the war’s losers in the village, focusing on the Councils of War or “Summaries” and the actions of the Tribunals of Political Responsibilities. It also includes an analysis of the human cost of the war in the village.
Finally, the annexes contain extracts from the documentation of the Councils-Martial and the files of the Tribunal of Political Responsibilities, as well as a list of the fatalities of the conflict.
