The art historian and museologist Joaquim Folch i Torres was such an active and versatile professional that some aspects of his cultural career still remain to be fully explored, including those of the young librarian and Noucentista poet, the expert museographer responsible for the exhibition of the Romanesque art collection in Barcelona’s museums, the scholar of medieval altar furniture in Catalonia, and being an innovator of Catalan art historiography who highlighted the Baroque period in Catalonia. It is also necessary to delve deeper into the work of the tireless art historian who, during the Spanish Civil War, he continued to write theoretical and informative texts, as well as being an active art market agent and he became an advisor to collectors during the Franco regime when he was a victim of reprisal. Thanks to the contributions of a group of specialists, this volume explores all these aspects to offer a multifaceted view of one of the leading figures in the management of Catalan artistic heritage in the first half of the 20th century.
