The contributions to this publication explore the diversity of the African women’s economic strategies and how they can vary between mere subsistence and a project of social, personal and/or collective improvement. In all the articles, treated from different perspectives, it is underlined the importance of empirical study of the sociocultural mechanisms that confer on women the capacity to be agents.
